Writers' Cafe is discounted this month because it's still in "beta" mode (there may be a few things I tweak, depending on how well they work for everyone) and because I might need to cancel or change a couple of writing hours during the final week of May, when I'll be travelling.
What to Expect From Writers' Cafe
I'm super grateful to everyone who took the survey about this group and I've tried to include all the elements that were most popular. (The name Writers' Cafe won, in case you were wondering!)
I've built Writers' Cafe using the Circle platform/app. In the survey, that was a much more
popular option than Facebook and it makes for a really calm, uncluttered place where we can stay focused on writing.
The Cafe looks like this:
Inside the Cafe, we have:
Weekly writing hours to sit and focus on your writing alongside others – this is one of the best ways I know of to make time to write within a busy week. If it’s on your calendar at a fixed time, it’s much more
likely to get done.
Weekly prompts that you can tackle – we have prompts that work for different types of writing, so you can use them for fiction or non-fiction, for short flash pieces or for incorporating into much longer works, and so on.
Weekly check-ins so you can tell us how your writing is going – these
are great for feeling accountable to others and for staying on track, as well as for getting encouragement and support during weeks where things didn’t go to plan.
Opportunities for feedback and critiques of your work from other writers – I know this one can be terrifying, but it’s also such a fantastic way to grow and to improve your writing fast. If you’re looking to enter a competition or get something
published, feedback really is invaluable.
Weekly Q&As where I answer any questions you have about writing – anything goes here, whether it’s the finer details of punctuating dialogue, advice on handling tricky freelance client situations, or tips for staying motivated when you’re in the sticky middle of a big project.
Everything is optional – you can choose just one thing to focus on and still make fantastic progress, or you can get stuck in and use absolutely everything.
I'll be sending out more information next week to the full Aliventures email list, but this
is your chance to get into the Cafe first so you can start making yourself at home. :-)
Looking forward to seeing you in there!
Ali
P.S. Do drop me an email if you've
got any questions or have any difficulty signing up/creating your account. I'll be very glad to help.
