I'll split these deals into different sections, so it's easy to find ones that suit you.
Writing Books
K.M. Weiland's books
Prices vary
K.M. Weiland from Helping Writers Become Authors is running a Black Friday sale on her books (you'll need to buy direct from her store, not from Amazon), to get the discount.
I particularly recommend Structuring Your Novel ($4.49) if you've not read any of K.M.'s books before. It's a detailed but accessible guide for novelists, whether beginners or more experienced.
Write a Novel and Get it Published (Nigel Watts, Stephen May)
$4.21 / £3.99 on Kindle, paperback available second-hand
An earlier edition of this book was the very first writing-related book I ever bought (back in
1998 with birthday money from turning 14)! It launched me on my writing journey and remains one of the best books I've read about creative writing: succinct, clear, and engaging.
The information about publishing will be outdated, but the writing tips are timeless, so I think it's well worth the few dollars/pounds for the ebook version, or for a second-hand paperback copy.
Writing Tools/Equipment
Keyboard: Logitech Wave
$54.50 (normally $59.99) on Amazon.com
(a US keyboard layout)
£69.99 on Amazon.co.uk (a UK keyboard layout)
The model of keyboard I use (a Logitech Wave K350) is no longer being manufactured, but this
keyboard is a pretty close match.
Using an ergonomic keyboard is a really good idea if you spend much time at all writing. I find mine really comfortable to type on, and sometimes I'm writing 5,000+ words in a day, between freelancing, Aliventures, and fiction.
Mouse:
Anker Wireless Ergonomic Mouse
$15.99 on Amazon.com
£16.99 (normally $21.59)
My favourite mouse is on a great
Black Friday deal. It looks weird and seems a little strange to hold at first ... but within minutes, you'll be used to it! I've had mine for four years, and it has completely stopped the issues I was getting with pain/cramp in my hand when using a regular computer mouse.
Planner: Full Focus Planner
Prices vary. They're offering $10 off if you spend $40+ currently
I've been using the Full Focus Planner for several years now and I love it. While it's not the cheapest planner out there, it's really well-designed,
and is great for breaking down goals into specific tasks for your weeks and days. If you're struggling to fit writing into your life, it could be a huge help.
Blog/Website Deals
If you have a blog or website, or you're thinking
about starting one, this is a great time of year to get a bargain deal on hosting, software, and more.
Dreamhost (website hosting and domain registration)
$7.99 for a .COM domain name
Dreamhost is the Aliventures web host ... and has been since 2009! Their customer support has been great and my website runs really well on their servers. You can get a .COM doman for just $7.99 during their Black Friday sale.
Divi (WordPress theme from Elegant Themes)
Price TBA
I use the Divi theme from Elegant Themes on Aliventures and I love it: it's a really powerful, flexible way to create WordPress pages. The WordPress software itself is free from WordPress.org.
The Elegant Themes Black Friday sale
actually starts tomorrow (Tues 27th), but I wanted to give you a heads up. :-) While you're waiting, you can check out the countdown timer and their various prize giveaways (including an iMac).
Happy shopping!
Ali
