Writers' Cafe "Close vs Distant Point of View" Workshop
In Writers' Cafe, we've started having a monthly workshop that's designed to give you hands-on help with some aspect of writing.
This month, we're tackling point of
view, digging into how to make the perspective closer to your character's thoughts, or further from them.
We'll be looking at:
- How to adjust the “closeness” of your narration (looking at various examples)
- The different options for conveying
characters’ thoughts on the page and pros/cons of each
- The ways point of view affects everything else: description, action, even dialogue
- What to do if you feel the point of view isn’t quite working in your story/novel
Our workshop takes
place next Friday, 26th September, at 5.30-6.30pm UK time. That's 12.30-1.30pm Eastern time and 9.30-10.30am Pacific time.
(Don't worry if you can't make it live: the workshop is recorded and made permanently available for all Cafe members.)
